Rooted in the refined Pak Persian weaving tradition, this 8'2" × 10'2" hand knotted rug presents a classic 8×10 rectangular format with a 0.50” medium pile, crafted from fine New Zealand wool on a cotton foundation and woven at approximately 250 KPSI(knots per aquare inch) for clarity and durability. The design centers around an elegant medallion composition, a hallmark of Persian inspired rugs, where symmetry and proportion guide the visual flow. A deep teal field creates a calm, expansive backdrop for the central medallion, which unfolds in layered floral and curvilinear motifs rendered with precision. Surrounding vine work and ornamental details extend outward with measured rhythm, creating a sense of balance rather. The borders are richly articulated, framing the field with repeating floral elements that follow the interior design and reinforce structure. Added to this is a palette that is sophisticated and composed, blending teal and green with ivory and beige for contrast and legibility. Accents of navy, aqua, slate, and soft rose add depth and subtle variation, while the New Zealand wool lends a gentle luster that enhances color definition without appearing glossy. This rug is well suited for living rooms, bedrooms, or formal sitting areas where its medallion design can anchor furniture layouts. Its balanced colors and traditional elegance allow it to integrate seamlessly into both classic and transitional interiors.

Story Behind the Art: Hand-knotted rugs are Pakistan's second-largest cottage and small industry that began as early as the 11th century under the Mughal rule. The craftsmen have the capacity to produce any type of rug using all the popular motifs of guls, medallions, paisleys (botehs), traceries, and geometric designs in various combinations. While the "stone washes" are used to fade and soften colors, the Peshawar style is characterized by a thinly sheered pile, large print designs, and most predominantly, their antique ivory and sometimes golden tones.
