Heriz-style rugs are known for being tough, and this hand-knotted wool piece is built in that same spirit. Seen here is a classic geometric layout of a bold central medallion on red, with ivory corners and a navy border of rosettes and angular vines. Every knot is tied by hand, creating a dense, thick pile that feels substantial underfoot and holds its crisp outlines well. Small shifts in tone across the field are a natural sign of hand-dyed wool and add to its handmade character. It's a traditional rug designed to handle daily life for many years.

Story Behind the Art: Heriz rugs, woven in the mountainous region of northwestern Iran near Tabriz, are renowned for their bold artistry and exceptional durability. Crafted from robust local wool rich in natural lanolin, they possess a resilience that makes them ideally suited for generations of use. Their hallmark design is the striking angular medallion large, geometric, and commanding framed by stylized leaves and bold motifs that radiate across the field. Rendered in a palette of deep reds, indigos, ivory, and earthy tones, Heriz rugs convey a powerful, architectural presence. Valued for both their strength and their dramatic visual impact, they remain timeless symbols of Persian village weaving, equally admired as practical floor coverings and statement pieces in refined interiors.
