Hand-knotted in the great Oushak tradition of western Anatolia, this rug centers a scalloped lime-green medallion that floats above a deep rust field like a clearing in autumn woods. Ivory palmettes and slender red vinework trail across the rug’s ground, drawn with the loose, generous hand that made Oushak weaving the darling of Arts and Crafts interiors a century ago. The wool pile is cut low and allowing the rug’s design to stand out. Knotted one row at a time on a cotton foundation, it's the kind of rug that organizes an entire room around it. *Note: This rug was photographed under studio lighting, which means the colors on screen may appear a little more vibrant than they do in person. We'd recommend watching the video below for a truer sense of the palette.

Story Behind the Art: Oushak Rugs, originating in the west-central Anatolian town of Oushak in Turkey, are renowned for their exceptional texture, expansive design and elegant style. These rugs are made using a family of designs that originate in Ushak, Turkey. They’re recognizable for their large-scale designs and are typically based on geometric motifs with central medallion drawings, smaller all-over medallions or scattered sprays of vine scroll and palmettes. Made from lustrous wool, they favor muted earth tones and are extremely versatile.
