Our Peshawar rug is hand-knotted from wool and sets cream scrolls and flowers on a warm brown field inside a wide cream-gold border. Pale blue accents show up in the border and the corners. Rounded, repeating vines give the center an open, easy rhythm, and the colors look soft and worn in. The dense pile is pet and kid friendly and springs back after foot traffic, and short fringe finishes each end. A low-suction vacuum with the beater bar off is all the upkeep it needs. Brown and cream pair easily with soft blues, tans and natural woods. A traditional area rug with a classic Persian-style layout, it suits anyone who likes warm brown and cream.

Story Behind the Art: Hand-knotted rugs are Pakistan's second-largest cottage and small industry that began as early as the 11th century under the Mughal rule. The craftsmen have the capacity to produce any type of rug using all the popular motifs of guls, medallions, paisleys (botehs), traceries, and geometric designs in various combinations. While the "stone washes" are used to fade and soften colors, the Peshawar style is characterized by a thinly sheered pile, large print designs, and most predominantly, their antique ivory and sometimes golden tones.
