Rooted in the classical elegance of Indo-Kashan weaving, this 6' × 9' hand-knotted rug is crafted from fine New Zealand wool on a cotton foundation and finished with a refined 0.5 pile that highlights intricate detailing while maintaining a graceful, lightweight presence. The composition reflects the traditional Kashan floral vocabulary, known for its balance, density, and enduring visual richness. The rug’s design is composed of a deep red field that establishes a bold yet sophisticated foundation, enlivened by an elaborate arrangement of floral vines, palmettes, and blossoms that radiate outward in symmetry. Ivory and soft pink motifs provide contrast and clarity against the saturated ground, while aqua and blue accents introduce movement and tonal variation throughout the design. Subtle navy elements are used to outline and anchor the floral forms, lending structure and depth without overpowering the rug’s overall color . Framing the field, a navy border densely filled with repeating floral patterns echoes the interior motifs, creating a strong visual enclosure and reinforcing the rug’s classical character. With its vibrant color story, balanced pile height, and traditional floral density, this Indo-Kashan rug is especially well suited for living rooms, dining spaces, or formal sitting areas, where it can add warmth, craftsmanship, and enduring decorative appeal to both traditional and transitional interiors.

Story Behind the Art: Like many other Persian rugs, Kashan rugs draw their name from the city of their origins, Kashan in Iran. Known for their tight weave and superior craftsmanship, Kashan rugs feature arabesques and flower-stems, palmettos, rosettes, blossom and leaf motifs in very dense patterns of endless or centralized repeats of floral ornamentation. A central medallion with pendant systems enhanced by corner spandrels and repeating floral motifs completes the design. During the 16th century, master weavers and dyers were brought to the area of modern-day Pakistan and India to begin producing very high-quality Kashan design rugs even surpassing some produced in Persia
