Our Peshawar-style transitional area rug showcases classic elegance, expertly hand-knotted from premium wool fibers over a strong cotton warp foundation. Set against a warm ivory-beige field, the layout features a prominent stepped central medallion encircled by intricate botanical vine scrolls, palmettes, and floral sprigs rendered in rich taupe. The composition is bounded by a thick main border showcasing repeating lotus palmettes and stylized foliage flanked by slender guard borders. Crafted with a dense wool pile and finished with subtle fringe edging, this rug provides natural stain resistance, structural durability, and reliable floor protection.

Story Behind the Art: Hand-knotted rugs are Pakistan's second-largest cottage and small industry that began as early as the 11th century under the Mughal rule. The craftsmen have the capacity to produce any type of rug using all the popular motifs of guls, medallions, paisleys (botehs), traceries, and geometric designs in various combinations. While the "stone washes" are used to fade and soften colors, the Peshawar style is characterized by a thinly sheered pile, large print designs, and most predominantly, their antique ivory and sometimes golden tones.
