Before you is a hand-knotted wool Peshawar rug that keeps things calm and balanced with soft cream and gray-green. The pale gold field holds tiny aqua and rose flowers, and a wide gray-green border frames them. The colors fade gently into one another, which gives the pattern a soft, relaxed look. The dense pile is pet and kid friendly and wears evenly, and fringe finishes each end. Regular vacuuming without a beater bar keeps the pile looking fresh. Cream and gray-green pair well with natural woods, whites and soft metallics. As a traditional area rug in light, easy tones, it works with many color palettes.

Story Behind the Art: Hand-knotted rugs are Pakistan's second-largest cottage and small industry that began as early as the 11th century under the Mughal rule. The craftsmen have the capacity to produce any type of rug using all the popular motifs of guls, medallions, paisleys (botehs), traceries, and geometric designs in various combinations. While the "stone washes" are used to fade and soften colors, the Peshawar style is characterized by a thinly sheered pile, large print designs, and most predominantly, their antique ivory and sometimes golden tones.
