Discover the refined precision of Sino Persian weaving with this hand knotted wool and silk rug, produced at 300 knots per square inch on a cotton foundation. The design draws on the classical allover repeat of small rosettes and diamond lattices that has defined Persian carpet making for centuries, rendered here across a black field in rose, red, and ivory with accents of navy, green, and peach. A wide floral border in deep rose and black frames the field with scrolling palmettes and vine work, echoing the fineness of the interior pattern while giving the whole composition a formal, finished edge. At 12 by 18 feet, this is a rug of genuine scale, suited to a grand living room, dining hall, or any space where a floor covering is meant to anchor the entire room. Note: The color of your rug may appear slightly different in person than it does on screen. This happens because device displays tend to oversaturate color, and because the pile's height causes it to catch and reflect light differently depending on the direction it's brushed, which can shift how a shade reads from one angle to the next. We've done our best to photograph this rug in a way that reflects its true tone, and we'd recommend watching the video below for a more accurate sense of its colors before you order. If you're still unsure, feel free to give us a call and we're happy to walk you through it.
Story Behind the Art: Sino-Persian rugs (made in China) are a specific rug style that favors the weaving and design techniques of the authentic Persian rugs from Iran. The rugs retain the essence of the Persian rugs and produce identical themes and patterns consisting of beautifully designed medallions, niches, trees and figural motifs and all-over floral motifs.
