The rug features a light gold field packed with an intricate allover lattice of stylized blossoms, hooked leaves, and tiny geometric fillers in tan and deep brown, wrapped by a series of borders carrying bold eight-pointed star medallions. Agra weaving grew out of the Mughal court workshops of northern India where disciplined patterning was a mark of real skill at the loom.
