Rooted in bold Caucasian weaving traditions, this 2'8" x 9'9" hand knotted wool Kazak runner features a low pile of approximately 0.25, a sturdy cotton foundation, and a classic traditional medallion layout enriched with strong geometric motifs. Crafted for durability and visual impact, this runner exemplifies the Kazak style’s emphasis on structure, clarity, and expressive color, making it both practical and decorative for narrow spaces. The design is organized around a sequence of elongated geometric medallions running along the length of the runner, a signature Kazak composition that creates rhythm and directional flow. The central field is dominated by a warm coral and orange red ground, which provides a vibrant backdrop for the motifs and immediately anchors the design. The medallions themselves are articulated in aqua and soft green, outlined with navy blue for contrast and definition, giving each form a crisp, architectural presence. Smaller angular accents and symbolic motifs often interpreted as protective or celebratory emblems appear in moss green and deep navy, adding visual texture and cultural depth.Framing the field, the contrasting border is set on a lighter neutral base, populated with repeating geometric rosettes and angular forms in coral, green, navy, and aqua, reinforcing balance while keeping the energy contained. Ideal for hallways, entryways, kitchens, or alongside beds, this Kazak runner brings warmth, tradition, and graphic strength to transitional spaces, pairing especially well with wood floors and both rustic and eclectic interiors.

Story Behind the Art Kazak rugs are well recognized for their striking aesthetic, durability and highly saturated naturally dyed color tone. Originally woven by different tribes in the region of Caucasus Mountains, between the Black Sea and Caspian Sea, Kazak rugs feature distinct design patterns/motifs with geometric composition and tribal characteristics. Common patterns include medallions, rosettes, hooked polygons, diamonds and crosses as well as representations of animals, birds, trees and humans. Today Kazak rugs that are made in Azerbaijan or in Iran or near the Caucasus Mountains are referred to as Caucasian Kazaks, and Kazak style rugs that are made in Afghanistan are referred to as Afghan Kazaks. Pakistan has also emerged as an important center for production of Kazaks in the modern times.
