Grounded in the classical Persian inspired weaving tradition, the 9'2" x 12'3" hand knotted wool Indo Kashan rug presents a refined expression of symmetry, floral artistry, and enduring craftsmanship, scaled for grand interior settings. Hand knotted from wool with a cotton foundation, the rug features a high pile of approximately 0.60, offering a plush, resilient surface that enhances both comfort and visual richness while preserving the clarity of its intricate design. At the heart of the composition lies a saturated fuchsia field, a color historically associated with vitality, luxury, and visual warmth. This bold ground sets the stage for an intricate network of scrolling vines and blossoming palmettes, which flow evenly across the surface in a balanced, mirror like arrangement, a hallmark of Kashan design philosophy. The primary floral motifs are rendered in ivory and soft blush, allowing the pattern to remain luminous and legible against the deeper field. These lighter tones bring a sense of openness and refinement, preventing the composition from feeling heavy despite its richness. Sage and taupe are used within the leaves and stems, grounding the design with natural, earthy restraint and adding depth through subtle contrast. Accents of aqua and blue appear sparingly within select blossoms and detailing, introducing cool tonal highlights that animate the surface and guide the eye across the rug. Fine touches of gold lend a gentle radiance, enhancing the sense of craftsmanship without overpowering the palette. Framing the field, the wide ivory and beige toned border symbolically encloses the design and reinforcing harmony and continuity.

Story Behind the Art: Indo Kashan rugs are a sophisticated Indian made tribute to the legendary carpets of Kashan, Iran. While the originals date back to the 16th century Safavid courts, the 'Indo' variety is crafted today in Indian weaving hubs like Jaipur and Bhadohi. They are widely regarded as some of the most classic looking rugs in the world, bringing a sense of royal history into modern homes. Most Indo Kashan rugs follow the famous 'Medallion and Corner' (or Book cover like) layout. They feature a central, diamond shaped medallion surrounded by a field of densely packed floral vines, palmettes, and arabesques. You may also see the "Shah Abbas" field, an all over floral pattern without a central medallion. These rugs are hand knotted (approx. 150–250 knots per square inch) with a 100% wool pile on a cotton foundation. Higher end versions often use premium New Zealand wool for a velvety sheen, sometimes incorporating silk highlights to make the floral patterns shimmer.
