Anchored in the Pak Persian weaving tradition, this 8'1" × 10'4" hand knotted rug combines a classic 8×10 rectangular scale with a 0.60” high pile, fine New Zealand wool, and a sturdy cotton foundation, woven at an impressive density of approximately 300 KPSI (knots per square inch) that gives the surface exceptional clarity and depth. The Pak Persian design language draws directly from classical Persian court rugs, and in this piece, the design unfolds across a luminous ivory and beige ground, where delicate vines, blossoms, and rosettes are arranged in a carefully balanced layout that feels both structured and fluid. Soft ivory and beige tones establish a calm foundation, while turquoise, aqua, and subtle rose accents bring freshness and movement to the floral motifs. Rich red highlights add warmth and definition, while black detailing, especially in the border work, introduces contrast and anchors the composition. The borders themselves are richly articulated, framing the field with scrolling florals and ornamental elements that follow the interior design and reinforce the sense of symmetry. The high knot density allows these details to appear crisp and finely drawn, while the New Zealand wool lends the surface a smooth, luxurious hand. This rug is especially well suited for formal living rooms, bedrooms, or elegant sitting areas where its refined floral language can be fully appreciated. It pairs naturally with classic furnishings, carved wood, and neutral upholstery, while its balanced palette allows it to transition gracefully into more contemporary interiors that benefit from a touch of traditional sophistication and quiet luxury.

Story Behind the Art: Hand-knotted rugs are Pakistan's second-largest cottage and small industry that began as early as the 11th century under the Mughal rule. The craftsmen have the capacity to produce any type of rug using all the popular motifs of guls, medallions, paisleys (botehs), traceries, and geometric designs in various combinations. While the "stone washes" are used to fade and soften colors, the Peshawar style is characterized by a thinly sheered pile, large print designs, and most predominantly, their antique ivory and sometimes golden tones.
